French author Annie Ernaux won the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday for "the courage and clinical acuity" in her largely autobiographical books examining personal memory and social inequality.

STOCKHOLM: French author Annie Ernaux has won the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature “for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory”, the Swedish Academy said on Thursday.

Erneaux is known for her semi-autobiographical works. The permanent secretary noted her "clinical acuity" in examining personal memory.
