Zouma, Cresswell poor, Soucek wasteful - West Ham player ratings after Eintracht Frankfurt defeat

Alphonse Areola - 7

His defenders let him down for the opener as Knauff's cross for Borre found the Colombian completely unmarked in the middle of the box.

Aaron Cresswell - 3

Was left all on his own to deal with Hauge on the edge of the box but should not have brought him down so cynically. Was always going to be shown red with no defenders around him to cover.

Vladimir Coufal - 6

Won most of his duels and didn't stop running for much of his time on the field before being withdrawn late on.

Craig Dawson - 5

Should have been much tighter to Borre when he opened the scoring from inside the box. Had a header on target in the box but lacked power before wasting a chance to cross into the box after drifting into space.

Kurt Zouma - 5

Poor positioning left Aaron Cresswell all on his own for the sending off before he also failed to pick up Borre for the goal. Had an effort cleared off the line from a corner towards the end of the first half.

Tomas Soucek - 5

Lacklustre performance in the first half and passed straight too often leading to interceptions. Improved in the second half.

Declan Rice - 6

Didn't have much come off for him in the first 45 minutes but was effective in the press as West Ham sought to get back into things during the second half.

Manuel Lanzini - 5

Never got the chance to get going in the match before he was sacrificed for Ben Johnson following Cresswell's sending off on what was his 200th appearance in West Ham colours.

Pablo Fornals - 6

Had a limited impact on first-half proceedings when Moyes needed a big night from the Spaniard. Was constantly running but things just didn't come off for him.

Jarrod Bowen - 6

Barely got a touch of the ball in the first half as West Ham went long for the majority of their attacks. Came back into things in the second period and almost squeezed the ball across for Antonio in the box.

Michail Antonio - 6

Started the game well and held the ball up when West Ham went long. Put a teasing cross into the box midway through the second half but nobody was on hand to help turn it in.

Substitutes

Ben Johnson (for Manuel Lanzini 21') - 6

Held his own going forward. Made an important tackle in the box to dispossess Knauff ten minutes into the second half.

Said Benrahma (for Pable Fornals 74') - N/W

The ball fell to him a handful of times but couldn't force the ball where he wanted.

Andriy Yarmolenko (for Vladimir Coufal 87') - N/W
