Zinedine Zidane aims dig at Barcelona over La Liga title record

Zinedine Zidane has taken aim at Barcelona over their lack of La Liga titles compared to Real Madrid .

Barca are currently 12 points clear at the top of the table, and will win the league on Wednesday evening if Atletico Madrid lose to Valencia.

That would mark their 26th Spanish top-flight title, the most of anyone in the country bar Zidane's Real Madrid, who have claimed 33 - albeit just two in the past 11 years.

Zidane won one La Liga title as a player with Madrid and one as a manager, as well as three Champions League trophies before he walked away at the end of last season.

Now back at the club following a disappointing season which has seen both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari sacked, the Frenchman says the league will always be Real's bread and butter as they have more titles than rivals Barca.

"La Liga is very important. It's the daily objective," he told reporters.

"It's going to be our first objective for the next season.

"We have 33 Liga titles. How many do Barcelona have? It's true they are doing great in the last few years, and we have to recognise them, but in our history there are many more titles.

"For me it's the most important title to fight for."
