Zawe Ashton joins Tom Hiddleston to star in Harold Pinter's Betrayal

Fresh Meat star Zawe Ashton will join Tom Hiddleston on stage as the star returns to the West End for the first time in five years.

The pair will play husband and wife in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal - the last production in a season of short plays by the Nobel Prize-winning writer.

The play, based in part on Pinter’s own affair with broadcaster Joan Bakewell, follows the couple over seven years tracing Ashton’s character’s affair with another man played by Charlie Cox.

Hackney-born Ashton, who has previously worked with director Jamie Lloyd on shows including Salome and The Maids, said: “I’m so thrilled to be part of the journey into the heart of one of Harold Pinter’s most personal pieces of work.

“As a longtime collaborator of Jamie Lloyd, it’s so exciting to be rounding off such an epic season of Pinter’s work."

Betrayal runs at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Tuesday March 5 to Saturday June 1.
