Yü Energy expanding its Leicester office and creating around 50 new jobs

An East Midlands-based energy supplier is expanding its office in Leicester and creating around 50 new jobs – and more could follow.

Yü Energy, which has its head office in Nottingham, is moving its Leicester operation to a bigger premises in St John’s House, near the city’s train station.

It is a national supplier of gas, electricity and water to businesses, and employs around 150 people.

The new office will open later this summer and will allow Yü Energy to expand its existing sales team.

The company will be recruiting for sales roles over the next few months.

It currently has 16 people working in its Leicester office, which is in St George’s House, in St George’s Way.

The new office will complement Yü Energy’s existing Nottingham headquarters which the company will continue to operate from.

The business is part of Yü Group PLC, which saw its turnover grow by 77 per cent to £80.6 million last year.

However it saw adjusted losses – before things such as interest, taxes, depreciation – of £6.3 million for the year, following a detailed accounting review.

That compared to a profit of £1.5 million in 2017.

The group’s share price has dropped from around £10 at the end of last summer to less than £2.

Yü Energy chief executive Bobby Kalar said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our operation in Leicester.

“Having had a presence here since early 2018, we know that the city offers exactly the right conditions to help our business thrive.
