Young Scottish man dies in tragic cliff accident on holiday as family left 'devastated'

The family of a young Scottish man have been left devastated after he died in a cliff-jumping accident in Portugal.

Andy Kerr was described as "charming and energetic" by his partner Karolina after he lost his life in the freak accident on May 28, while taking a break to the holiday destination.

While grieving the loss of their loved one, the family has been forced to reach out to the community as they scramble to quickly raise the funds to bring his body home.

After launching an urgent fundraiser, Karolina, from Edinburgh, wrote that they are desperate to get Andy home to the UK, and have been left with just 24 hours to raise around £15,000.

Speaking on the Go Fund Me page, she paid tribute to the "love of her life", and said:

"Andy was the love of my life, best friend, my rock.

"Andy dedicated his life to helping and motivating the others to achieve their best, to improve their lifestyle, to become successful.

"Charming, independent, energetic and compassionate, Andy was and will be our mentor, who could have changed the world with just an idea, and he did change the world for lots of people, including myself.

"We are all devastated by Andy’s loss and will need to get Andy back to the United Kingdom. We want to give Andy the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes.

"I am currently asking for donations to help his parents to cover the costs of Andy’s funeral and repatriation. We need to raise £15,000 by tomorrow, 31st May, in order to be able to afford it in Portugal and in the United Kingdom."

In just a few hours the family have seen an overwhelming response to their plea, with £11,000 raised so far.
