Young motorcyclist rushed to hospital after serious crash on Scots road

A 22-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on a Scots road last night.

The incident, between Johnstone and Linwood, happened around 9.30pm as emergency services raced to the scene on the A737.

A blue Kawasaki motorbike, travelling on the southbound carriageway, and a blue Dacia Sandero Stepway car, travelling on the northbound carriageway, were involved in the crash.

The 22-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains.

A 55-year-old woman, the driver and sole occupant of the car, was uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours to allow for a collision investigation to be carried out and it was later reopened around 3.20am on Sunday morning.

Officers are encouraging anyone with information to get in touch and enquiries remain ongoing.

Sergeant John Bradford of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing and I would urge anyone who saw what happened, and has not yet spoken to officers, to come forward.

“I would also ask motorists who were using the A737 last night and either saw the vehicles involved, or that may have been recording via dash-cam to check their systems and provide any relevant footage to us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 4240 of 24 April.
