Young Hairdresser Left Partially Blind After Being Doused With Acid by Women Accusing Her of Talking to Their Men

A 21-year-old hairdresser in Trinidad and Tobago remains hospitalized with severe chemical burns after two women lured her to a location under false pretenses and attacked her with acid.

The victim, identified as Jessie James, was contacted by one of the suspects under the guise of scheduling a hair appointment, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian.

When James arrived at the arranged location in Belmont, she was instead met by another woman who led her to an isolated track. There, two women confronted James, accusing her of socializing with men they knew.

The altercation escalated when the suspects threw two steaming cups of an unknown acidic substance onto James' face before fleeing the scene. Screaming for help, James was aided by two bystanders who rushed her to Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

James sustained significant injuries, including burns on her face, lips, and eyes. While she retains partial vision in one eye, the other remains severely affected.

Her aunt, Galia Noel, described the attack as "gruesome and hypocritical," condemning the violence against her niece.

Meanwhile, law enforcement has taken a statement from the family and continue their investigation.
