Young children among those injured in serious Kilmarnock car crash

Three children are among those injured in a serious car crash yesterday afternoon.

Two seven-year-old girls were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries following the crash on the B7038, near to Spittalhill at around 12.45pm.

The smash involved a blue Peugeot 206 and a grey Volkswagen Passat.

Two men, aged 36 and 38, and a 34-year-old woman were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock with serious injuries.

A three-year-old girl was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for seven hours whilst officers carried out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police in Ayrshire are now appealing for information following the crash.

Sergeant Craig Beaver, of Glasgow's road policing unit, said: "Our investigation into the crash continues and it's important we establish exactly what happened here.

"I am appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the accident or were driving shortly before it to come forward as soon as possible.

"I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to get in touch."

Those with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident number 1732 of 28 June.
