Young Boys vs Man United prediction: Swiss trip promises to be a goals feast for Ronaldo and co

Manchester United kick off their 2021/22 Champions League campaign with a trip to Switzerland where they face an in-form Young Boys side in Berne's Stadion Wankdorf.

The hosts have won five of their last six matches in all competitions, a half-dozen batch of games that have produced a total of 25 goals, and the hosts attacking style of play should play right into United's hands.

David Wagner's side give up plenty of chances, indeed even in their 4-0 victory over FC Zurich on Saturday the visitors still managed to generate 13 attempts on goal, and it's very difficult to see the runaway Swiss champions keeping United at bay given the attacking quality they possess.

With games coming thick and fast, it's likely that Ole Gunnar Solskjær will make a couple of changes from the side that swept Newcastle away on Saturday, although it will be a surprise if two-goal hero Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't lead the line once again given Edinson Cavani is still not available.

The Reds' rearguard looked a little shaky at times against Newcastle despite an impressive home debut from Raphael Varane, and it looks as though it is going to take a little time for that defensive unite to gel. A dynamic Young Boys forward line that has been bolstered by the signing of Wilfried Kanga could easily take advantage of that and cause United one or two problems, making the 5/6 about both teams to score (yes) a perfectly viable option for punters.

However, we can get more bang for our buck by backing over 3.5 goals at 29/20. It's a bet that would have collected in five of the last six Young Boys matches and and United are going to get plenty of chances.

*Readers of this column were in the money again on Saturday after we tipped up United to win and both teams to score (17/10) against Newcastle.*
