Young boy in hospital with head injury after being hit by car

A young boy was taken to hospital with a head injury after being hit by a car.

Merseyside Police officers were called to Muirhead Avenue East in Norris Green at around 3.20pm on Wednesday, December 7, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a young boy had been hit by a grey Ford Kuga.

The North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene and took the boy to hospital. The boy, who police were not able to confirm the age of, suffered a head injury and remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the Ford Kuga has stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. Officers have closed the road at the junction of Lingmell Road and a huge cordon is also in place.

There's still a huge emergency service presence in the area and police are advising people to avoid Muirhead Avenue East.

A spokesperson from the force said: "At around 3.20pm this afternoon (Wednesday 7 December) we received a report of a collision on Muirhead Avenue East involving a grey Ford Kuga and a young boy. Lingmell Road to Muirhead Avenue East is closed whilst emergency services remain in the area and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

"Thank you for your patience whilst we investigate this incident."
