You probably shouldn’t draft Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph in your fantasy draft

We’ve been addressing the fantasy football outlook for Vikings players throughout the month, including Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.

Those are all players who will likely be rostered by fantasy teams after drafts over the next month and a half.

One player who likely won’t is tight end Kyle Rudolph.

Rudolph finished with 64 catches for 634 yards and four touchdowns last season. With 87 traditional fantasy points, that mark actually ranked ninth among tight ends, which would make him a fringe starter in a 10-12 team league.

But with Irv Smith Jr. joining the offense, there’s not a lot of upside with Rudolph.

Pro Football Focus ranks him in their “low ceiling” category with 12 tight ends above him.

ESPN has Rudolph ranked as the 16th tight end and 167th player overall.

It’s really not worth it to have a backup tight end on your team, unless it’s a “pay for transaction” league.

Rudolph is a solid streaming option, but shouldn’t be rostered when the season starts.
