Newcastle have agreed a deal worth up to £55million to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.
Brentford had previously rejected two bids for Wissa, the most recent totalling £40m, but have now reached an agreement with Newcastle to let Wissa leave.
The striker is in Newcastle for a medical and to finalise his move to St James’ Park.
Wissa has been on strike for much of the summer as he feels that Brentford are standing in the way of him leaving the club.

He took to social media over the weekend to reaffirm his stance, and now appears to have got his wish on Deadline Day.
He wrote: “Over the past few weeks, there has been increased speculation about my future at Brentford Football Club. As a result, I wanted to speak directly and honestly about exactly where things stand,” Wissa, who has not been involved in any of Brentford’s matchday squads so far this season, posted on his Instagram story.
“I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but with just hours remaining of the transfer window I feel compelled make it clear that I want to leave Brentford. I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer.”
Newcastle’s move for Wissa comes after they agreed an £130m deal to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool.
Wissa, who has not been involved in a matchday squad this season, has made clear his desire to leave Brentford as he wants to play Champions League football.
Brentford have been reluctant to let Wissa leave so close to the end of the transfer window, with head coach Keith Andrews having been hopeful of eventually reintroducing the striker to the squad after Monday’s deadline.
Wissa, though, now looks set to get his move, leaving Brentford looking for a replacement just hours before Monday’s 7pm deadline.
