Yerry Mina fitness update as Everton deal with sickness in squad ahead of Man City clash

Everton are sweating on the fitness of defender of Yerry Mina for the Blues' trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

The Colombian scored on his return to first-team action against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day at Goodison Park, but had to be withdrawn in the 76th minute in a match the visitors went on to win 2-1 with a goal in injury time.

Frank Lampard will have Conor Coady available once more, with the on-loan centre-back ineligible to play against parent club Wolves on Monday, but his deputising teammate will require a late check for any sort of inclusion against the Premier League champions.

Speaking about the availability of Mina in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Lampard said: "We're going to find out today. He's training today. He had some cramp in the game [against Wolves] and some sensation around his hamstring - very low level - so he'll train today and then we'll make a call.

Lampard also revealed that the Blues are contending with a bug in the camp, that the audibly hoarse Everton manager had not managed to avoid himself.

He said: "We've got a few people who are slightly unwell. You might be able to hear that I'm a little bit like that myself. So, we've just got to do a few checks on that."

Despite the wider squad issues, Everton have been boosted by the return of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to the match day squad against City, although Lampard would not be drawn on whether his main attacking focal-point would start against Pep Guardiola's side.
