The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has sounded a yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki on Tuesday, warning of isolated heavy rain.
Southern Kerala and districts such as Idukki and Wayanad are likely to receive isolated heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday as well, according to the weather models issued by the India Meteorological Department on Monday.
The cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of north Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu now lies over coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood. Under the influence of the weather system, scattered and fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with thunder and lightning is likely over Kerala and Lakshadweep during the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala from April 12 to 15, says a weather bulletin issued by the IMD.
