Yannick Ngakoue hints at Bengals’ predictability aiding Jaguars

About a week ago, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor had to field questions about whether he would consider handing off play-calling duties to someone else.

Fast forward to now, opponents have offered some insight into how predictable the Bengals are.

Speaking on his interception of Andy Dalton that went back for a touchdown, Jacksonville Jaguars star Yannick Ngakoue said the following, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby:

“I noticed when (Giovani Bernard) was in the game, they were looking pass. And when it was (Joe Mixon), they were looking run…So I thought it was going to be a screen. ”

The play in question:

Granted, the Bengals attempted 43 passes to 20 rushes and Joe Mixon ended up catching a touchdown.

And yet, the critique from an opponent still meshes well with what the Bengals have shown for most of the season.

Part of the blame falls on the miserable offensive line up front. But a big chunk of it needs to fall on Taylor’s mistake-riddled calls and approach, too.

If something doesn’t give, this likely won’t be the last time an opponent says something along these lines.
