Yang's is more than just a Chinese restaurant - it's a Dublin institution that delivers every time

Dublin restaurants are doing everything in their power to stay alive - and the purpose of this series of reviews is to help support those eateries that go above and beyond, through their willingness and determination to keep going.

Not to keep going, but to keep their staff in jobs, and above all, to continue to deliver food of extraordinary freshly perpared food to Dubliners as normal, despite these abnormal times we've lived through this past three months.

Quality Chinese restaurants in Dublin are tough to find, particularly given the fact that Chinese is still one of our national favourite cuisines.

The number of take aways is huge but that doesn't correspond with the number of quality dining experiences.

When I visited Yang's on the coast road overlooking Bull Island in Clontarf I was hoping that the menu lived up to the reputation.

The restaurant is very popular in the area but it was also the only Chinese that I knew of in the locale.

Like all of the other restaurants post Covid-19, Yang's had to move to a collection and delivery service but they were a little slow out of the gate as we all wondered what may come at the outset of the lockdown.

The full dinner and lunch menus are now available for delivery in the Dublin 1, 3, 5 and 13 area code.

Yangs won the Best Asian Restaurant at the Irish Food Awards in 2019. Quality assured!

In ordering a family meal for four, we had to be sure that we would be able to satisfy the relatively inexperienced 3 year old and our 13 year old whose favourite food is Pizza.

We started with a half crispy aromatic duck with pancakes, which is my personal favorite.

The kids loved it as well as the novelty of making their own pancake roll.

We knew we had to dial down the spice for the kids so we selected the Crispy shredded salt and chilli dry chicken dish.

It had the helpful guide of just one chilli next to it on a scale of 0 - 3 so we were confident that it would suit our 13 year old, who wanted to try the authentic experience.

He absolutely loved it and was almost reluctant to share!

Even our three year old was keen on it.

Making sure to sample as many types of main as possible, we also rounded out the main courses with the double fried fillet of beef that was melt in your mouth tender.

The hot and sour soup was zingy and the king prawn in the ginger and scallion sauce was very more-ish.

All dishes were complimented with skinny noodles and fried rice and a side of fried pak choi and Chinese cabbage.

At the end of our gastronomic Chinese experience our 13 year old summed it up and said, Wow, can't wait to have that again!

Visit Yangs.ie and give the family the night in they deserve with the best Chinese food you'll find outside Beijing.
