Halo fans rejoice. Xbox console fans, however, might riot. I'm kidding, of course, but Halo: Campaign Evolved got a new cinematic story trailer today, showcasing what players can expect from the game and giving us our best look yet at the remake.
Honestly, it looks pretty good. I was already impressed by the gameplay trailer shown during Xbox's June showcase yesterday, as were many others, as the game charted on Steam and the Collectors Edition sold out within the first few hours. The game does look great, though, and everything else on display here has only reinforced that feeling. So, let's take a look at what was shown.
Immediately, the trailer opens with text at the bottom of the screen informing fans that the footage was "CAPTURED ON PS5 PRO" and was reportedly meant to be at Sony's State of Play.
Honestly, I thought that would surprise me, but it does make sense to showcase the game on a console that isn't all that much more powerful than an Xbox Series X, even if it comes with a much more ridiculous price tag thanks to current market conditions.
The trailer doesn't waste any time, jumping straight into The Pillar of Autumn at the start of the game, followed by a close-up of Sgt. Avery Johnson, all accompanied by voiceover work from none other than Jen Taylor, the voice of Cortana.
Visually, the game looks great, and I really don't have much to complain about. That said, I do think the Forerunner aesthetics are a little too clean. These are supposed to be ancient structures, yet everything looks almost brand new.
It is nice, however, to see that Halo Studios appears to be keeping The Flood under wraps for now. I'm sure that'll be a great surprise for players who have never experienced the game before, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing their reactions.
With that said, let me know your thoughts on the latest trailer. Are you as excited as I am, or are you still on the fence? Be sure to leave a comment and take part in our poll.
