Hot on the heels of WrestleMania 41 is WWE Backlash 2025.
The Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri hosts the latest edition of the Backlash event and marks the fourth WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) to be streamed on Netflix after the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.
Debuting in 1999 as a concept based around the backlash from WrestleMania. However, the theme was dropped after the 2009 event with its revival in 2016 taking place much later in the year.
Although the post-WrestleMania theme returned in 2021 and has remained in place ever since.
This year’s event will be headlined by John Cena defending the Undisputed WWE championship against his long-time rival Randy Orton.
Cena defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania night two last month, thus becoming a record 17-time WWE world champion in the process.
His first defence will be against Orton - in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri nonetheless - in a match that is being billed as 'one last time' given this rivalry stretches back a couple of decades and the fact that Cena retires from wrestling at the end of the year.

Elsewhere on the Backlash 2025 card, Dominik Mysterio defends his newly won WWE Intercontinental championship against Penta.
The odds are stacked against the new WWE United States champion Jacob Fatu as he must fight off LA Knight, Damien Priest and Drew McIntyre in a fatal four way match to hold on to his title.
Becky Lynch made a surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 41. Successfully teaming with Lyra Valkyria to dethrone WWE Women's tag team champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
However, after losing the titles the very next night on WWE Raw, Lynch attacked Valkyria which has led to a WWE Women's Intercontinental championship match between the two Irishwomen at Backlash 2025.

Perhaps the most intriguing bout of the night pits former WWE World Heavyweight champion Gunther against color commentator Pat McAfee.
