Would you be willing to pay £5 to visit Kirkstall Abbey?

Would you be willing to pay £5 to visit Kirkstall Abbey?

We want to know if you would still be willing to visit the Medieval Abbey if you had to pay a fiver. This comes after the news that Kirkstall Abbey is going to charge people from outside of the city for visits.

If you live outside the city be ready to pay your £5, but note that children will cost £2.50 and children under the age of five will be allowed in for free.

Kirkstall Abbey is a hot spot for tourists and Leeds folk alike - the number of visitors continues to rise but will this be stilted with the new fee?

Many people, like Lynne Green, who worry about the price of living have expressed their concerns: “Is it really a good time to introduce a fee? Everyone is struggling enough right now with the high cost of living. We'll be charged for visiting the local park next.”

Kelvin Wakefield doesn't think the charge will stop there either: "That’s how it starts. First you charge non residents but it won’t stop there. Pretty soon, you‘ll charge everyone.”
