World’s oldest person makes King Charles chuckle ‘All the girls were in love with you’

  • King Charles visited Ethel Caterham, who is recognised as the world's oldest person, at 116.
  • Mrs Caterham amused the King by recalling his 1969 investiture as the Prince of Wales, stating that "all the girls were in love with you".
  • She became the world's oldest living person in April, following the death of Brazilian nun Sister Inah Canbarro Lucas.
  • Born on 21 August 1909, Mrs Caterham is the last surviving subject of Edward VII.
  • Her life has spanned significant historical events, including the Russian Revolution, the Great Depression, two world wars, and the Covid-19 pandemic.
