World Cup 2022: Ghana staff member takes selfie with despondent Heung-min Son after victory over South Korea

South Korea’s World Cup dream took a major blow against Ghana on Monday.

After a 0-0 draw with Uruguay, a meeting with the tournament’s youngest team and one beaten by Portugal represented a genuine opportunity to claim a vital three points in Group H.

The Black Stars, however, ran out 3-2 winners in a dramatic win inside Doha’s Education City Stadium.

Ghana had raced into a two-goal lead before a second-half fightback from South Korea levelled the scores around the hour mark.

Two wonderful headers from Cho Gue-sung had given the Taegeuk Warriors a strong platform but Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus second goal of the game ensured a famous Ghanian victory.

The result leaves South Korea’s destiny out of their own hands heading into their clash with Portugal and, naturally, star man Heung-min Son was despondent at the final whistle.

Such is the ruthless nature of tournament football, however, a member of Ghana’s backroom team took the opportunity to snap a selfie with the Tottenham star.
