Woman who viewed Queen's coffin seven times in Edinburgh travels to London to pay final respects

A woman who visited Queen Elizabeth II's coffin seven times in Edinburgh is now in London to join the queue at Westminster.

Elizabeth Sabey, an evangelist and missionary from the Isle of Lewis, travelled by train to the capital, telling other passengers how she loves how much the country has come together in recent weeks.

The 43-year-old admitted feeling quite ill and dehydrated after spending more than 24 hours queuing to repeatedly see the coffinin St Giles Cathedral - but said she felt compelled to continue her journey with the late monarch when she travelled to London, reports Edinburgh Live.

The committed Christian said while she didn't really follow the monarchy and some might find it crazy, she found the whole experience divine and deeply moving.

She said: “I am feeling quite ill as the toilet facilities and access to water wasn’t great at Edinburgh but I just loved the atmosphere of the queue.

”People may think I'm crazy and maybe I am but I find it deeply spiritual."

She decided to catch the train to London yesterday, September 17, hoping to be able to join the massive queue and see the Queen in the Palace of Westminster before she is moved to Westminster Abbey for her state funeral on Monday.

Speaking to the BBC earlier in the week, Elizabeth said: 'It's beautiful when you enter into the Cathedral, it's the atmosphere, the presence, there's something of definitely the divine there.

'It's beyond words and I feel deeply moved every time I go through. I wouldn't miss it so every time I've gone back again and again.

'Queen Elizabeth II was such a notable, irreplaceable and I wanted to pay my respects but it was more than that, it was an experience I just didn't want to miss. Every time I've gone back... it's been so beautiful.'
