Woman who fell from M62 bridge has died

A woman has died after falling from a bridge over the M62.

The woman was fatally injured after falling from a bridge near to junction 12 Eccles Interchange and junction 11 for Birchwood in Cheshire on Wednesday evening.

The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours while the emergency services attended the scene.

Cheshire Police confirmed on Monday that the woman later died in hospital.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said:"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information or footage regarding the incident please contact us at Northwich Police Station on 101, is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 540804.”

North West Ambulance Service said on Wednesday: "We were called at 6.44pm to the M62 to reports someone had fallen.

"We sent an ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and a senior clinician to the scene.

"One patient, a female, was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
