Woman swears by 'glue stick' hack for buttering toast - others aren't convinced

Of all the condiments, butter is one of the most controversial. From the amount you use to the brand you like, it's caused more than a few arguments over the years. One bloke was even urged to end his relationship after watching his partner dig into a tub rather than scrape a knife along it. So it turns out the way you spread butter is important too.

Well, devout diggers and scrapers should look away now, as a woman has shared what might just be the most controversial method yet. It's good news for anyone who doesn't like washing up dishes, as there's no cutlery involved, but it is bad news if you hate crumbs in the tub.

As athlete Jessica Fox demonstrated in a post to TikTok, she butters her toast straight from the block. In the video shared to her account @jessfoxcanoe, the Olympian can be seen using her preferred method.

"So this is how I butter my toast. It might be a little bit controversial," she explains before asking: "Does it make you feel uncomfortable or am I a genius?"

Justifying her logic in the caption, Jessica wrote: "Its just easier, no clumps of butter or holes in the bread. surely im [sic] not the only one."

However, not all viewers were convinced. Replying to the video, which racked up over 400,000 views, one person claimed: "No we all use a knife then leave the knife on the edge of the sink in case we need to use it later."

A second added "It's bothered me so much" while a different comment read "Babe it's not a glue stick."

But some people loved the idea and revealed they always make use of the tip or plan to going forward.

"That's not a bad idea. I now need butter and toast butter so I don't transfer any crumbs on to other things that's not toast," said a fan.

A second dubbed the method as the "definition of work smarter not harder" while someone suggested "the back of a spoon is way easier."

Another thought: "It gets the job done, and saves on washing a knife. Genius."

Meanwhile, someone added: "If I lived alone I would absolutely do this!"
