- Hewitt inflicted 47 stab wounds on Angela Lloyd, 56, a disabled wheelchair user, at her sheltered accommodation bungalow in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham , on 13 August last year.
- The fatal attack occurred just hours after Hewitt received a suspended prison sentence for assault and mere minutes after police community support officers had spoken to her regarding her welfare.
- Ms Lloyd made desperate calls to a Care Connect alarm service during the attack, screaming for help and stating she was being stabbed, with Hewitt reportedly shouting 'where’s your money'.
- Ms Lloyd's family expressed profound disappointment with the hospital order, arguing there should be a 'penal element' and raising serious concerns about the 'actions or inaction of all the organisations that failed so badly to protect Angela'.
