Woman slammed for 'violating husband's privacy' by emptying pockets to do laundry

A woman has been slammed by her 33-year-old husband for checking his pockets before putting his clothes in the wash.

She was left 'dumbfounded' after her partner snatched his work trousers back and shouted at her for having 'no respect for his privacy'.

The husband claims he lashed out because he was 'worried about important documents getting lost' - but the internet is less convinced and many have shared their suspicions about him cheating.

To make matters worse, her other half decided to buy a wardrobe with a lock and move all of his clothes inside it, to 'deter her snooping'.

In her viral post on Reddit, the woman explained that she was searching through her husband's work trousers to make sure nothing was left in the pockets before washing them.

"My husband just happened to walk by and he rushed in yelling at me to put his pants down," she wrote.

"I already had a folded piece of paper out but he snatched it then started screaming at me about how I have no respect for his privacy and that I shouldn't be getting my hands on his things.

"I was genuinely dumbfounded. I told him to take it easy, I always do this before laundry.

"He lashed out saying I had no right and should've come to him and asked him first because he was worried about important documents getting lost like the one I pulled out.

"I said important documents shouldn't be inside his pockets and asked to see the paper but he said he won't show me."

The woman now feels confused because it "wasn't like a stranger was digging into them".

"He refused to speak to me and later bought a new closet with a LOCK and moved his clothes inside of it," she continued.

"I asked if he was serious and he said this will teach me to respect his privacy and deter my snooping. Then went back to not speaking to me."

The majority of Redditors backed the woman's washing habit and shared their concerns for her husband's secretive ways.

"He's obviously hiding something. No sane person with nothing to hide locks up their clothes," one person said.

"It's completely normal to go through pockets when doing the laundry, either to take out forgotten cash or receipts."

Another said: "From what it sounds like you genuinely were not snooping. Also from what it sounds like, you should probably start..."

A third commented: "100% cheating", and a fourth said: "That man is guilty of something".

Lots of people agreed that he should start doing the chores, with a user writing: "If he wants privacy he can wash his own clothes."

Though few people disagreed and admitted they'd never emptied their partner's pockets before.

"Why were you looking through his pockets? This is very shady," someone put, and another wrote: "I've been married for 20 years and we don't touch each other's stuff."
