Woman shares 'genius' online shopping trick to get right size without returning items

Online shopping is amazing if you don't want to go to the effort of going out to busy shops and trying on endless products in the brightly-lit changing rooms.

That being said, online shopping can be tricky as most of the time you're just having to take a chance on the fact that it'll fit you.

Most brands have a return policy that allows you to send back items that don't fit, but it's a time consuming process, and the money will still leave your bank account before it's returned.

A savvy shopper has shared her online shopping hack which means she never has to return items because she ends up getting the right size every time.

Other shoppers have hailed her tip as 'genius' and they can't believe they didn't think about doing it before – even though it's 'common sense'.

Online content creator Alison Hope Murray shared the tip to her TikTok, adding that it "saved her" from "many dreaded post office returns schleps".

In the video, Alison said: "This is how I shop online and not care about the size, and just care about what fits me."

Alison then shared a screenshot of her notes on her phone, where she has written down all her measurements, including chest, waist, hips, and height."

She added: "So whenever I'm shopping online I pull up their size guide or the size table, I guess it depends on where you're shopping, and I cross reference the measurements that they list for each size against my own.

"Every company will use their own size system, there is no official size system, therefore you will likely be a different size in different brands. It literally doesn't matter. Buy clothes that fit you."

Alison also said that the hack had "changed her life".

People were blown away by the simple hack, and many couldn't believe they hadn't thought of doing it before.

One person simply called it "genius" while another added: "this is amazing".

A third commented: "Why does this feel like the most obvious thing ever but have LITERALLY NEVER THOUGHT TO DO IT."

Another added: "That's b***dy genius, although I feel like we shouldn't have to do this."
