Woman shares 'game-changing' potato hack for cleaning pots and pans

When cleaning our houses, it's fair to assume we're all after some simple ways to make it easier.

It's got to be done, but certain household chores can be tiresome - cleaning up grubby pots and pans, in particular, is one that many people hate.

But one woman has shared a 'game-changing' hack for getting stubborn stains off - and you probably already have the ingredients sitting in your cupboard.

TikTok user Purdy and Figg recently posted a video detailing a couple of hacks to make cleaning your home easier.

These included the best way to eliminate odours from your dishwasher, and using a dry mop to dust high-up places in your home that you can't reach.

But one tip was a standout, and it involves simply using a potato and some salt to scrub away grime on pots and pans.

The video caption reads: "Who knew potatoes could be used for cleaning?" alongside a shocked emoji.

The clip shows a cast iron pan covered in cooking stains, which can be notorious to remove.

In an on-screen caption, it says: "Clean your cast iron pans with salt and half a potato".

The woman is then seen to sprinkle the grubby pan in salt, and then use the half potato to scrub the surface and remove the food marks. The coarseness of the salt seems to do its job, cleaning away the spots of food and oil.

Afterwards, she shows off the clean and shiny pan with no residue left on it, with a caption declaring that it looks "good as new".

"So beautiful!" one fellow cleaning fan commented.

While another added: "You got my attention."

Also featured in the video was a trick on how to stop your dishwasher from smelling, which involves placing half a lemon and some bicarbonate of soda in it.

The TikTokker said that it "helps to cut through grease and limescale naturally, and also leaves the dishwasher smelling zesty fresh".
