Woman shares controversial way to cook pasta and Italians are 'lost for words'

A woman has come under fire for the odd way she cooks pasta.

Jasmine explained how she makes spaghetti bolognese in a TikTok video, where she posts as @jasminegiltrow.

She took part in a popular trend on the app, where people share the life hacks that "you randomly saw one day that is now an unconscious standard practise in your life" - but viewers were far from impressed.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 2.1 million times on the social media platform, Jasmine explained that she was attempting to put her own twist on a recipe from the famous American Italian restaurant chain Frankie & Benny's.

Jasmine puts the uncooked pasta straight into the sauce (jasminegiltrow/Tiktok)

She begins by pouring a jar of tomato sauce into a saucepan, before adding water from a kettle.

Then, in goes spaghetti.

Once the pasta is cooked, she adds cooked meatballs and voila, the dish is ready to be served.

Since being posted, the video has been liked 138,000 times and has received more than 2,000 comments where viewers couldn't decide if it was genius or horrifying.

Would you make pasta like this? (jasminegiltrow/Tiktok)

One person exclaimed: "IF YOU CAN'T COOK PASTA PROPERLY DON'T COOK IT."

Another said: "Yall please don't do this it's [gonna] be hella starchy and the pasta won't cook properly also do yall not know how to make your own sauce?"

While a third said: "Our nonna has just had a heard attack."

"As an Italian watching this I'm lost for words," penned another.

But one person said: "This makes so much sense."

And: "The pasta absorbs so much flavour this way. It's great. Don't hate till you try it," commented a supportive fan.
