Woman says she was 'dress coded' at Disney World - and given free top to cover herself

A woman from Florida claims to have been "dress coded" during a recent trip to Disney World, Orlando, after turning up to the Magic Kingdom wearing a black crop top and cut-off denim shorts.

23-year-old Tori Cannella says an employee informed her that her crop top was in violation of the theme park's dress code, and took her to the gift shop for a t-shirt, completely free of charge.

In a TikTok video that has clocked up 868.9k likes, Tori can be seen carrying a coffee cup as she follows the employee into the gift shop, claiming she'd "just experienced getting dress coded at Disney".

However, it would seem that - on reflection - Tori can now see the employee's side of things, as she later admitted "I mean, I kinda agree with them looking back at this video".

Once at the checkout, Tori - who goes by the username toragrams - was given a yellow t-shirt before being allowed to continue her day.

Some of Tori's followers have been unable to see the issue with her original top, with one person commenting: "I- that’s literally probably one of the least revealing crop tops you could wear… at least the shirt was free".

Another wrote: "I’m sorry but they reached with this one. There is nothing wrong with your original top. I’ve seen so much worse".

However, others could see potential hazards posed by the crop top.

One wrote: "It’s not a 'bad'/'showy' crop top but I could see them wanting you to wear something else in case you went on rides and accidentally flashed an eight-year-old".

And a commenter claiming to be an ex-employee added: "The rule is that your top can’t have just a string to hold it together if that makes sense".

In response to the comments, Tori alleged that "the lady who scanned me in just had it out for me", but remarked that she might have just been "in a bad mood".

She went on to clarify that she has "no hard feelings" about her experience overall.

According to guidelines published on the Disney World website: "Disney reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that is considered inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests".

This includes "clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment".

The Mirror has reached out to Disney for comment.
