Woman's simple and cheap trick that will keep your home spider-free - and it costs £2

As the days become shorter and the temperature gets colder, spiders are beginning to reappear.

And if you're not a fan of our eight-legged friends, you're probably racking your brain for how to effectively prevent them from invading your personal space.

One woman has come up with what could be the best, yet simple and cheap, way to stop the creepy crawlies sharing your home.

In a post on the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a woman named Sylvia shared her rather simple hack, MirrorOnline reports.

And the whole thing cost her under £2 to do.

The woman says she discovered that spiders hate the smell of mint and just a whiff of it can send them scurrying off in the other direction.

So she took some mint and put it inside a bottle of anti-bacterial spray.

She then sprayed the stuff all around her house to deter the bugs.

Her post reads: "Had leftover packet of mint and small amount of cleaner left. Chopped mint and added to anti bac cleaner and filled with water.

"Sprayed under window sill outside and around the door. I watched the spiders run as I sprayed. They hate mint right enough. Some people use essential oils but I just thought I would use up what I had."

Her post quickly garnered over 3,000 likes and more than 1,000 comments, with many saying they'd try the hack for themselves.

One person replied: "I will buy some mint next time I go shopping."

Another said: "Will definitely try this."

A third added that the trick also works by spraying water and mint - so you can save yourself some more money and skip buying the anti-bacterial cleaner.
