Woman's incredible journey from 'dreaded world of takeaways' to losing 5 stone in 9 months

A Nottingham woman who managed to lose five stone in the space of nine months has shared her incredible journey.' Sarah Davies, 39, had recently moved to Keyworth when she said she'd "had enough" and decided to make some changes.

Sarah explained that takeaways and eating food out of packets, coupled with a relationship breakdown, had contributed to her making a lifestyle change. Now, the 'God send' of VAT cooking and daily exercise plans have helped her achieve the incredible feat of losing five stone between July 2021 and April 2022.

She said: "I'd just had enough really. I'd had a relationship breakdown, I'd moved to Keyworth very quickly and then I just said 'enough, I need to get a grip.'

"So before it was just eating anything - all the bad stuff. Food that was just processed and convenient really.

"The dreaded world of takeaways and just eating out of the packet, but now it's very clean. I do a lot of cooking from home, I do a lot of VAT cooking which obviously is a God send in todays world of inflation.

"I cut a lot of sugar out and just get moving! Don't sit in front of the tele much and just get out and walk and that's the main activity really.

"I've got a Spaniel so she has to be walked as well and then you just feel better because you're out in the fresh air and getting that vitamin D top-up."

Slimming World, an organisation which aims to create diet plans for customers, had a huge impact during Sarah's journey. She says that the chance to make like-minded friends outside of work was a 'massive' help.

She added: "[They helped] massively. I was really lucky because the nine months that it took me to lose five stone there wasn't one week where I hadn't lost weight.

"It wasn't until right near the end when I did one week of maintain, but every other week for the nine months I lost something every week. You saw people on their journeys and having a great time and some people that were having a wobble and just sharing that experience.

"I was new to the area so it was nice to have people outside of work that I can now call friends which is so cheesy to say! But it's just a really good group of people.

"It's not just the weight loss, it's the confidence, you just feel better.
