Woman's handy hack for drying clothes to save money amid energy crisis

A mum has revealed her handy hack for drying the whole family's clothes without using a tumble dryer to save pennies.

The mum airs her entire family's laundry on multiple racks strategically hung up in the bath tub when the weather isn't good enough for the washing line.

She shared her tip on Facebook to help others save on the cost of using a tumble dryer - if they even have one - as energy costs rise.

She wrote: "My little laundry tip. Might be an obvious one already but hopefully it will help at least one person.

"With the energy costs changing I thought I would share what I do with my laundry when I am unable to put it outside on the washing line.

"I’m actually not lucky enough to have space for a tumble drier so when it’s wet I do this."

She said she uses hangers to hang everyone’s tops in age order along the shower rail.

This helps her then sort out everyone's dry clothes in order so it's ready to take to their rooms, the Sun reports.

She says she can usually fit two loads of washing in the bath with two airers.

The mum says she puts out the washing in the morning while everyone is at work and school and it is usually dry by the next day.

This comes as a Cabinet minister said it is not possible to "completely nullify" the pressures on energy prices, as demonstrators gather across the country over the cost-of-living crisis.

But Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis said the Government is "looking... across the board at what we're doing with the public's money", and will "put in the support that we can, as and when we can" to ease the sting of rising prices.

The People's Assembly said it expects thousands of protesters to take to the streets in dozens of locations throughout the UK to highlight those suffering "real hardships" due to the combination of a hike in fuel and food costs, inflation and low pay.

Unions have complained that Chancellor Rishi Sunak's spring statement last week did nothing to allay fears about soaring fuel bills and rising inflation, with the TUC calling for an emergency budget to help families.

The lifting of the energy price cap on Friday will create an "impossible choice for many", to eat or heat, said the People's Assembly.
