We all know the struggle of wanting to revamp the house but not having the budget to do so.
Often, it’s easier to start with one item - which is exactly what Beth Donelon did when tackling her couch.
Beth shared photos of her brand new couch after giving it a complete makeover - for less than £50.
Having purchased a secondhand couch from Facebook Marketplace, Beth set to work on transforming the run-down cream item into a good-as-new crushed velvet masterpiece.
Beth shared her story to a Facebook DIY hackers group and said: “Picked this up on fb marketplace for peanuts and revamped it in silver crushed velvet with blush pink and silver cushions”.
Using heavyweight crushed velvet material from a local textiles store which cost around £45, before setting about unpicking the stitching along the seams of the old material covering the couch.
Beth said: “I unpicked all the stitching on the sofa so I had several different fabric panels. I numbered each piece of fabric so as not to get confused and mix them up.
“I used the old panels as a template to cut the new fabric out, sewed them all together and secured it by stapling underneath”.
Once she finished covering the couch, Beth added some cushions to complete the look.
Beth’s post has received a load a positive comments, with many asking for tips and tricks to getting the perfect reupholstered couch and praising her skills.
