Woman's body found in Renfrew flat as man arrested in connection with death

Police have launched an ‘unexplained death probe’ after the body of a woman was discovered at a property in Renfrew.

Officers were called to Cardon Square at around 11.45pm on Wednesday, May 26, where they made the grim discovery of the 34-year-old's body.

A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection.

Local residents have told how a police guard remained outside the address overnight with a large cordon put in place in Whimbrel Wynd, near the River Clyde.

Officers are also believed to have been in attendance at the nearby Lapwing Drive while they carried out their enquiries.

Police Scotland have confirmed that they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers in Renfrew attended at an address in Cardon Square around 11.45pm on Wednesday, 26 May.

“A 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained, are ongoing.”
