Woman's body found at property in Greenock as police probe unexplained death

Police have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a woman at a property in Greenock. Emergency services were called to the scene on Belville Street in the town at around 11.45am on Tuesday, February 21, after the alarm was raised.

Enquiries to determine the circumstances of the woman’s death remaining ongoing, Police Scotland have confirmed to the Daily Record. Officers are currently treating it as ‘unexplained’.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal as is the case with all sudden deaths in Scotland.

A statement from the force said: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a woman at a property on Belville Street, Greenock, around 11.45am on Tuesday.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.”

Meanwhile, officers were called to a popular Fife beauty spot following the discovery of a man’s body on Wednesday. The grim find was made on Benarty Hill near Ballingry at around 10.20am.

Enquiries to determine the full circumstances remain ongoing, however, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage.
