Woman rushed to hospital after incident on Scots railway line in Ayrshire

A woman has been taken to hospital after being found injured on a railway in North Ayrshire.

Officers were called to reports of a casualty on the line near Beith at around 7.10am on Thursday.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also raced to the scene where paramedics treated the injured woman before taking her to a local hospital.

ScotRail warned passengers to expect delays after services between Glengarnock and Lochwinnoch were temporarily suspended on Friday morning.

Services between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour, Ayr and Largs were subject to disruption but the line has since reopened.

A police spokesperson said: “British Transport Police officers were called to a stretch of track just outside Beith at 7.10am this morning (01/10) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended and a woman was taken to a local hospital. This incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
