Woman rushed to hospital after fire in Coatbridge high rise flat

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a fire took hold in a high rise block of flats in Coatbridge.

Emergency services raced to Dunbeth North Court in Coatbridge at around 2:45am in the early hours of Sunday, November 14 reports the Daily Record.

At its height, dozens of firefighters and nine appliances were all being used to battle the blaze.

The fire had broken out on the 12th floor of the multi-storey block of flats.

A number of residents were evacuated from their homes to a rest centre, and one woman was rushed to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Footage of the fire shared by an eyewitness shows flames in the window of the 12th storey with smoke billowing from the flat.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.47am on Sunday, November 14 to reports of a fire affecting the 12th floor of a multi-storey block of flats at Dunbeth North Court, Coatbridge.

“Operations Control mobilised nine appliances and other resources to the scene to extinguish the fire.

“A number of residents were checked at the scene by paramedics and one adult female was taken to hospital.

“Firefighters left after making the area safe.”
