The smash happened on the A6 Chorley Road on Sunday, June 23, just before 3.10pm.

Her injuries are serious, but are not believed to be life-threatening.

Constable Mark Ratcliffe, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This incident could easily have proved much more serious.

“Our thoughts remain with the motorcyclist as she continues her recovery in hospital.

“Were you in the area at the time and did you witness the collision?

“Perhaps you saw either vehicle shortly before the incident or have dashcam footage that can assist our investigation?

“If so, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
