Woman reports boyfriend as missing - and police tell her he never existed

A woman whose partner suddenly started ghosting her calls and texts was left baffled when she tried to file a missing persons report, only to be told he didn't exist.

TikToker Kathrine Verb says she was dating a man for two years, and saw herself having a future with him, including marriage and children, until the coronavirus pandemic hit last year.

“I was with a man for two years and thought I was going to marry him and have his babies, and spend the rest of our lives together," she explained. "But then Covid hit and he unfortunately told me that he thought he had it."

“He said he was thinking about going to the hospital because he felt so bad, but then miraculously he started to feel better."

However, after that day, Kathrine never heard from her partner again, prompting her to fear for the worst.

“But it was that same day he told me he was feeling better that I never heard from him ever again. He suddenly stopped responding to all my calls, all my texts. A week later his phone went right to voicemail," she continued.

“I freaked out and started calling the hospital, thinking maybe something happened and he’s at the hospital, but he wasn’t there.”

After discovering her partner hadn't been admitted to any of the local hospitals in the area, Kathrine decided to contact the police, to tell them her boyfriend had gone missing.

“I called the police and filed a missing person report, and you know what they told me? They told me my boyfriend did not exist," she said.

"So not only did my boyfriend ghost me by faking his death, he had also lied to me for two years about his real identity.”

After sharing her horrifying experience online, Kathrine's video has racked up nearly 500,000 likes, with many TikTok users coming to their own conclusions about what happened to him.

"100% he was married and then had to work from home," one user suggested, while another commented: "You probably dodged a serial killer. Phew, thank God he did that!"

Meanwhile, others questioned whether she had met any of his family or friends who she could question about his disappearance, however in another video Kathrine explained she had only ever met him at hotels on his own due to them being fairly long distance.
