Woman 'punched in face' during assault in Millennium Square

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was punched in the face during an assault in Millennium Square.

A man was also left with a slash wound to his hand after the attack, which took place at around 11pm on Saturday (August 8).

The victims, both in their 20s, needed hospital treatment and have yet to give a full account of the incident.

The suspects are two men and police say are they are both described as being white.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has added that initial witnesses have described seeing a number of people in the area at the time.

They say that others may have been threatened by the same suspects and not yet contacted police.

The force has urged people who were in the area at the time to get in touch.

"If you were in the area last night please check your phone and contact us if you have any pictures or footage of the incident or the moments before or after," a police spokesperson said.

"If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5220178539

"You can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form.

"No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court or have to speak to police when contacting Crimestoppers."
