Woman pulled from flat by firefighters after early hours blaze

A woman was pulled from a flat after a fire in the early hours of today.

The incident occurred at a property in Bowland Drive, Litherland, at around 4.30am.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service were alerted at 4.33am and three fire engines arrived on scene at 4.41am.

A spokeswoman said: "On arrival crews found a fire in the bedroom of a first floor flat.

"Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat and rescued one person from the property.

"Firefighters then quickly extinguished the fire.

"A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway between Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service and Merseyside Police."

The condition of the woman has not been confirmed.

Witnesses described multiple ambulances, fire engines and police vans attending the scene.
