Woman plunges 40 feet from Soldier Field upper level after Gold Cup final

CHICAGO _ A woman fell 40 feet from an upper level of Soldier Field Sunday night after the U.S. men's national soccer team played Mexico in the 2019 Gold Cup.

The accident happened around 9:20 p.m., according to Chicago police. An ambulance rushed the 23-year-old to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was stabilized and expected to survive, said police spokeswoman Ana Pacheco.

"She doesn't have any major injuries," Pacheco said. "She was very lucky."

Mexico beat the U.S. 1-0 and clinched the 2019 Gold Cup title shortly before the incident.
