Woman mortified as she's reported for 'murder' - after stranger overhears breakup story

A woman's lockdown took a shocking turn last week, when police turned up at her front door.

Officers rushed to a flat after a dog walker overheard 21-year-old Abby Ball loudly recounting a dramatic story about a break-up and reported a 'murder'.

However it turned out the young woman hadn't hurt anyone, but had simply had a bit too much to drink and got a little over-excited while telling the tale to her flatmate, Tori.

Abby, who lives in Bedwas, near Cardiff, south Wales, had been enjoying a boozy night in and was animatedly sharing a story about a time she had thrown a plate at her ex and hit him in the head.

This prompted her to shout: "I think I’ve killed him!".

A stranger passing by heard the words and swiftly called police, fearing someone had been seriously injured during an argument.

Shortly after, five police officers arrived at Abby's front door, believing she'd actually 'murdered someone'.

And she claims the ordeal only got worse when they mistook the red eye shadow on her hands for blood.

Thankfully she was able to explain the major misunderstanding to the police.

Abby later posted a video sharing the whole ordeal on TikTok, calling it 'the worst Tuesday of my life'.

The clip quickly went viral garnering almost 7,000 likes and shares.

Her footage shows at least three police cars and vans outside her home, lights flashing, with the caption "would be f***ing me wouldn't it".

Abby said: "Tori’s living with me. She hasn’t got work tomorrow so we was like, ah, we’ll have a few cans tonight.

"[I was] speaking to her, about the time when all the drama went on with my ex and I chucked a plate and I accidentally hit him in the head. And I re-enacted the scene basically.

"I was like, ‘I think I’ve killed him!’.

"Somebody walking past with their dog rang the police and actually thought I’d f***ing murdered someone."

She went on to describe the scary moment police arrived to investigate what they thought could have been a murder scene.

Abby continued: “So next thing you know my living room is blue, [and] all these coppers [are] running up my stairs. I’m ready to do a runner, mate.

"I didn’t even know what I’ve done. I’ve done nothing. I’ve been on lockdown. I’ve done f**k all.

"So I’m like 'what have I done', looking at an officer, and he goes, ‘Abby’, because he knows me obviously, ‘have you murdered someone?'"

Bemused, she replied: “I beg your f***ing pardon.”

In the comments, she added: “Worst thing is I had red eye shadow on my hand from swatching it and they was like 'SHE HAS BLOOD ON HER HANDS' started putting gloves on and that."

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: "We received a call about an incident at a property in Bedwas, at around 9.20pm on Tuesday 7 April.

"Following initial enquiries, no further action was required.”
