A woman and man were fatally shot Friday in Lawndale on the West Side, according to police.

They were seated in a car about 4 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Kostner Avenue when someone exited another vehicle, approached them and fired shots, Chicago police said.

The pair were struck multiple times and taken by paramedics to Mt. Sinai Hospital, police said.

The 29-year-old woman and 37-year-old man were both pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy Saturday but has not yet identified the pair. Both of their deaths were ruled homicides by multiple gunshot wounds.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation. No arrests were reported.
