Washing your make-up brushes is a necessary evil - we all know it takes much longer than we'd like it to, but we also know that it's the most hygienic thing to do to prevent bacteria build-up in our beauty blenders and the rest. One woman has posted a video that has had people begging her to buy new make-up brushes for her mum, however, as she hasn't washed the brushes in four years.
The video, which was posted on TikTok on @katiemakeup66, showed the make-up brushes prior to them being washed - and they didn't look ideal. Some people were speculating there may have even been mould on the brushes.

In the video, the woman says: "I decided to wash my mum's brushes which I know she has never washed."
The video then zooms in on the make-up brush, which definitely looks worse for wear.
"She's had this one for probably over four years and it's never been washed", she continued.
She then explained that she was going to use soap, water and white vinegar to wash the brushes and banish the bacteria.
She explained that you could also use lime juice in the concoction, but she didn't have any.
Then, the brush is put into the mixture, and it turns it a milky beige colour, which alarmed TikTokers.
"Oh my goodness, so much make-up just came out it was so satisfying", she gushed.
She then explained she was going to put another two brushes into the mixture, referring to her mum as a 'simple woman' because she only owns three make-up brushes for her whole face.
She then gags when she zooms in on the mixture.
The video then moves on to the brushes being rinsed after they've been left for an hour in the mixture, and make-up can still be seen coming out of them.
She said: "This is the first time I washed the brush and as you can see it's still disgusting, so I went through one more time and I actually needed to go do it another time."
The video shows make-up still coming off the brushes as she rinses them.
People in the comments were horrified at the state of the brushes before they were washed.
One wrote: "At this point just get her a new one."
Another said: "Girl...just buy another one for her, it would be easier."
"That's an ecosystem", someone joked.
"I thought it was a mossy rock from the ocean", one TikToker wrote, followed by multiple crying faces.
"Those brushes need an exorcism", another hilariously wrote.
