Woman found dismembered in duffel bag after dog walker followed trail of blood

A woman was found dismembered in a duffel bag after a dog walker's hounds followed a trail of blood.

The body of Orsoloya Gaal was discovered by Glenn Van Nostrand, who called 911.

A duffel bag was spotted by Von Nostrand while he was taking his dogs for a walk in Queens, New York City just after 8am yesterday (April 16) and at first he thought it had just been thrown away.

But his two Rhodesian ridgebacks became agitated as they neared it and he looked inside..

“They are scent hounds,” Van Nostrand told The Post. “They see the world through their noses.”

His dogs kept pulling him elsewhere after the grisly find, and after cops arrived they helped investigators follow a fresh trail of blood.

The duffel bag was reportedly leaking blood, and the trail led back to Ms Gaal's home around half a mile away where her 13-year-old son was alone.

He did not know where his mother was, according to police.

New York Post reported the boy was seen being handcuffed and led away by police, before being quizzed and then released.

Howard Klein, the victim's husband, and their 17-year-old son were said to be out of state.

Police, however, indicated they were on their way back to New York.

The two men, officials said, are 'people of interest' in the case, those with inside knowledge told the Post.

Ms Gaal's Facebook profile shows several pictures of her with a dog in New York City,

Her social media profile show that she attended the Budapest Business School College of International Management and Business.

Klein's Twitter account indicates he is a lithium trader who founded RK Equity.

Another social media account showed he attended the University of Michigan.

Neighbours in the area were alarmed at the gruesome discovery and described feeling sick about the body find.

Others said they did not feel safe to be walking in the neighbourhood at night with a body being discarded at the side of the road

“It’s freaky," said horrified resident Linda Gorniaczyk at the crime scene.

"As a woman, it’s scary. You listen to true crime stuff and you don’t want to see it in real life, especially in your neighbourhood.”
