Woman fighting for life following 'altercation' in Salford

A woman is fighting for life in hospital following an 'altercation' on a street in Salford .

Police were called to Cumbrae Gardens in Weaste on Monday night to reports of a disturbance.

It is understood a row broke out between two women, during which one of them - a woman in her 60s - fell ill.

Ambulance crews were called and the woman rushed to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

A section of Cumbrae Gardens was taped off for several hours while enquiries were carried out.

No arrests have been made.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Police were called shortly before 8.10pm on Monday, July 22, to a report of an altercation between two women on Cumbrae Gardens, Salford.

"During the incident, a woman in her 60s fell ill and was taken to hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition."

The North West Ambulance Service added: "We received a call at 8.12pm to a private address and took one patient to hospital."
