A 57-year-old woman drove her car into a convenience store in Phra Nakhon district, Bangkok, on Tuesday night, injuring eight people, including herself.
Police said that the incident happened at about 10.50pm on Bowon Niwet Road in the Bang Lamphu area.
The vehicle first struck a tuk-tuk and a noodle stall outside before crashing into the convenience store.
Police found the electric car halfway inside the store, amidst broken walls and damaged goods.
Witnesses told police that the driver, identified only as Natcha, had driven her car at a high speed around the roundabout in front of the store twice before crashing into it.
The crash injured two staff, three Thai people and two German tourists, according to police.
The noodle vendor said he, his mother and girlfriend saw the speeding vehicle and feared it could cause an accident. They went into the convenience store, not expecting the car to follow.
Before being transported to hospital, the driver told police that she lost control of the vehicle. Police said they have yet to conclude the cause of the accident.
